From Planner to Partner: Why I’m Ditching the Clipboards (Sort Of)

Let’s take it back.

In high school, I was that girl who was absolutely enchanted by weddings. Not just the pretty dresses and slow dances - but every little part that made the day happen. I found myself constantly chasing opportunities to peek behind the curtain. Whether it was setting up chairs, folding napkins, or helping with the family friend’s wedding - I was in it. I was completely immersed in the world of “making it all come together.”

Years later, I got the chance to step into my own role as a wedding planner. And let me tell you - it was not as glamorous as Pinterest made it look. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it. I was good at it. I had the privilege of working alongside the most talented vendors and being trusted with some of the most important days of people’s lives. But when it came to actually running a business while also running events? Oof. That was a rude awakening.

Starting out, I felt like a nobody. Just a girl with big dreams, a Canva subscription, and a coffee habit. And suddenly I was in charge of timelines, budgets, family dynamics, vendor teams, design plans, the weather, and oh yeah - my own sanity.

Five years and several grand entrances later… I’ve finally figured it out:
I was never just in love with the weddings.
I was in love with what it takes to bring a creative business to life.

Because here’s the truth - running a wedding business? It’s not that sexy. In fact, it’s mostly chaos, late nights, and a deep-seated need for better systems.

Nobody tells you that on top of your booked-out weekends and dream clients, you also have to keep your blog updated, reply to every inquiry, market yourself constantly, and somehow make time to rest. Nobody warns you that the email you set up in the beginning is now drowning, and people have moved on because you ghosted them accidentally. You were just trying to get through the season. You weren’t ignoring them - you were just... exhausted.

You keep telling yourself, “I’ll fix it in the off-season.”
Or “I just need to make it through these next few weddings.”
But off-season never comes the way you thought it would.

And all the while, you’re supposed to be showing up online, being the face of your brand, and giving your booked clients 110%. It’s no wonder so many of us feel like we’re “just starting out” even years in - we’re stuck in survival mode, just trying to keep up.

That’s why I transitioned out of full-time wedding planning and into something that truly lights me up:

Supporting the creatives behind the weddings.

At my core, I’m a supporter. I always thought I was supposed to be the one holding the veil and cueing the music. But the truth is - I was meant to be supporting you. The photographer whose inbox is a mess. The florist who keeps pushing off their newsletter. The planner who’s running flawless events but drowning behind the scenes.

I get it. I’ve been there. I’ve lived the back-to-back weddings, the missed calls from friends, the never-ending list of admin tasks. I know what it’s like to build something beautiful and still feel like you’re falling apart on the backend.

So that’s why I created Lady in Love Studios - a space where your business gets the support it deserves. Whether it’s blogs, workflows, newsletters, or inbox clean-ups - I’m here to bring some beauty and peace back into your systems.
